your house number, street name and township name.
example: "2147 Main Street, Caernarvon Township"
Please Do not refer to your area as "Churchtown,"
"Narvon" "Beartown" or "Pennytown."
The local residents know where those areas are, but
the County Communications Dispatcher may not.

THE NATURE OF THE EMERGENCY.
Important:
Stay calm, speak clearly.
Stay on the telephone until you are told to hang up.
Do
not call 9-1-1 for: Road / Travel / Severe Weather
Information, Household /Auto Repair Emergencies, Loud
Noise, Littering, etc. For these types of non-emergency
Fire Company or Ambulance calls please use the toll
free non-emergency number for Lancaster County Communications
1-800-691-3473 and for all non-emergency police related
calls please call the PA State Police at (717) 721-7667
TECHNICAL PROBLEMS: As we are all aware, no system
is perfect and there have been rare occasions the
Lancaster County 9-1-1 system temporarily malfunctions
(such as during a severe electric storm). In the event
that you would call 9-1-1 and get a message that it
is "temporarily" out of service,
Please call the Caernarvon Fire Company at 445-7310
The Fire Company will have been immediately dispatched
to the Fire Hall with staff available to respond to
emergencies.
TIP: Whether you live in the 445,354, 286 or 273 phone
exchanges, as a resident of Caernarvon Township, Lancaster
County, your call will go to Lancaster County Communications.
If you have any concern about the use of 9-1-1 in
your area you may test the system by dialing 9-1-1
from your phone and when the dispatcher answers -
immediately state that you are testing your 9-1-1
service and would like the dispatcher to state what
address they show for the number you are calling from.
Please report any problems immediately to the dispatcher
and then follow up with a call to your township office
at
